now moving forward let us understand the problem statement:
so, in our exercise file, we are given a link, which we click and we get three cartoon images.
we need to just download one image among those 2 images and then use it for our solution of the exercise.
how I solved the problem: 1st of all, I downloaded the problem statement file. the clicking on the images links I got three images of different cartoons.
clicking on the cartoon you will find a download option right side, top of the page.
after downloading the image, I dragged that into adobe illustrator and started the tracing.
adobe illustrator is the best tool or software used nowadays for illustrations and for logo making.
now 1st of all select the artboard and put your image onto that artboard.

select the pen tool from the toolbar and start tracing the outermost part of the image. Now pen tool is a very useful tool but it feels very difficult to use it first up. just click on the border of the image then click & hold the right button and drag the mouse to the next point and release the right key. now you will see two anchor points, one on the top and the second on the bottom of the curve you just created. You can move these anchor points and can adjust your curve.
anchor points help to make the curve move smooth and better. If you want to understand the anchor point concept you need to visit my video tutorial and also have the best view of this concept on the GFX Mentor youtube channel as well.
now keep moving the mouse and keep selecting the image from borders. You can increase and decrease the thickness of the stock from the top menu from where the stock can be managed. there you will find out the options to change the color of the stock, increase or decrease the size of the stock and some other useful options as well can be used.
It is recommended to keep the fill off, That will help you to make smooth curves and it will help in completing the selection in minimum time.
Strock color can be changed at any time, which means if you select the color black and then during the selection with pen tool you want to change the color, you have the choice in adobe illustrator.
So as I earlier told you to keep the fill off.
fill can be turned off from the toolbar, left side of the screen, right at the bottom. just click on the fill and it will be turned off then click again to turn it on.
Moving forward complete the selection process and then select the eyedropper tool to fill similar color in the selected part of the image.
eyedropper tool gives you the facility to fill similar colors in the selected part of the image when it is selected and need to fill the similar color in the image.
let me tell you, how it works. whenever you select an image or part of the image and then you click on the eyedropper tool while the image is still selected, now click on any color from the artboard or from the image, and the same color be will be filled in your selected area.
this is how it works and it becomes very easy to fill the same color that was in the raster image and now filled in vector image.
now hide that layer we just traced and select the circle tool from the toolbar to draw an eye of the cartoon image fill the similar color from the color section or use the same eyedropper tool.
to copy the same eye and to put it on the right-hand side so that we should not have to draw the second eye we have used a shortcut of copying an image. Press the "alt" button and then move the mouse with the right key pressed, your copy of the eye will be created automatically.
now it's time to draw the inner part of the eye, repeat the same process, and hide the layer from the layer panel which has been traced and moves to the next one.
After completing the Tracing process and filling the colour in each part, hide the original image and check your traced image.
Your image should be same as was your original one.
Now take a screenshot of the vector image and place it in solution file and come back to the illustrator.
Take another screenshot of the layer panel, paste this screenshot under the heading of layer panel screenshot.
